The DATA SAVER PRO DC is a surge protected unit which will supply enough power to the vehicle to preserve all electronic settings etc. whilst the battery is disconnected for replacement/repairs, whilst powered from a donor vehicle or a 12 volt DC supply.
To use the DATA SAVER PRO DC: · All electrical loads should be switched off. This includes interior lights, fans, radio, lights etc. as the DATA SAVER PRO DC can supply a maximum of 2A. · Insert the cigar lighter plug into receiving vehicle’s cigar socket and check the output LED is on. (This checks that the cigar lighter and the cigar lighter fuse are operating correctly.)
Note: If the vehicle cigar plug only works with the ignition switched on, then rather use the battery clamp harness to connect to the receiving vehicle battery. This is to prevent an overload due to the ignition being switched on. If the red OUTPUT TRIP indicator is on, this indicates that the maximum output current of the DATA SAVER PRO DC has been exceed and therefore data backup is not possible. To reset the trip condition, disconnect the output of the DATA SAVER PRO DC from the receiving vehicle.
· Connect ONE of the inputs to the donor vehicle. The INPUT INDICATOR corresponding to the connections used should be on. The other input is then isolated. · Once one of the INPUT indicators and the OUTPUT indicator are on, it is safe to disconnect the receiving vehicle’s battery.
Note: Care should be taken not to short circuit or overload the electrical circuit on the receiving vehicle, as this will cause the internal protection to trip. This will result in data being lost.
